SOAR Turns 2!
2 years ago, SOAR Professional Services opened its doors with the goal of supporting Indigenous people, their communities and organizations on their vision for the future.
We’re excited to share more of our community impact plan with you throughout the year, starting with our proud partnership with Kehkimin!
Located near Sitansisk (St. Mary’s First Nation), New Brunswick, Kehkimin Wolastoqey language immersion school works to sustain and strengthen the Wolastoqey language revitalization movement.
“The Wolastoqey language is the essence of the Wolastoqiyik (“the people of the beautiful and bountiful river”). Currently, there are no Wolastoqey immersion schools, and so the language is at risk of extinction. Almost all fluent Wolastoqey speakers are 65 years and older, so we only have a short window of time to involve our fluent speakers in the revitalization of our language.” - Kehkimin
